About Author Byrd Britt
Byrd is from the small town of Lumberton, North Carolina and although she has lived in other places like San Francisco and Atlanta, she decided to return to Lumberton in 2014. She has taught school at the elementary school level as well as adults in a business setting.
She has a passion for reading, writing and caring for her dog, and 3 cats. Sometimes she fosters other kitties in need. Byrd also cares for a large group of community feral cats.
Why a penny?
One day many years ago Byrd received some coins from a purchase and among those coins was a penny from 1889. She saved the penny and often wondered where that penny had traveled in all those years and thought it would make an interesting story to write a children's book series with the penny being part of the story. The penny is passed from one kid to another. as they go on different adventures.
